I've described a tiny bit of each of the 9 prime digits of mathematics. In numerology, these prime digits become symbols that characterize your nature, actual patterns of human existence that allow you to be aware of events in your life.

You might already be asking, "What number am I?" I'll go into that very shortly, but first I'd like to say that with patience and practice on your part, this system will begin to clarify some questions you may have had about yourself and where you're headed.

Numerology, the modern-day term for the science of numbers, has been associated with the philosopher and mathematician, Pythagoras. However, many cultures throughout time have used both the practical and mystical understanding of numbers and their influences. Many references can be found, for example, from the Chaldeans, Egypt, Greece, Hebrews and others. References also occur in the Bible. In fact, it's fascinating that almost every sacred book since the dawn of time has made mention of the use of names, name changes, and understanding of the hidden meanings of numbers.

Believe me, knowing how to use and interpret the study of numbers is surprisingly accurate. Having your date of birth and full name allows you to pick up your own hammer and nails and build a life of security, happiness, and solutions.

To clarify what the numbers symbolize, let me tell you a little story:

In the beginning, there was the number 1. This number stands for man, the initiator, the leader, the independent individual. But man did not desire to remain on his own forever. Along came the number 2. This number represents woman, the feminine receptor, number 1's helpmate, diplomat, and sensitive peacemaker. Both number 1 and number 2 decided it was time to marry and create a family. A child was born as an expression of the union of their love. Enter number 3. This number stands for the creative child, the mentally active and energetically imaginative expression of goodwill and joy.

Now that the family was complete, all three numbers looked at each other and said, "We must build a house in which to live." Digging the earth for the foundation began. Viola, a number 4 was created, standing for discipline and the building of the foundation of things.

After the framework had been completed (number 4 requires step-by-step discipline and hard work), the family decided it was time to relax and recuperate from a job well done by taking vacation. They wanted to free themselves from the confines of limitation. Enter the number 5, which symbolizes freedom and the five senses. It communicates its desire and ideas through experiencing. Off the family went on a mini-vacation.

Back from their holiday, the family looked at the house they had just built. It was time to move in and make their house a home. That brought them to the number 6. This number represents domestic responsibilities, love, and harmony. It requires adjustment (of course, family arguments have to be resolved!) and community service. By expressing the number 6, the family realized they also had pets, neighbors, and community activities surrounding them. The family was pleased, happy for what they had accomplished and what they had to give and receive.

Yet the family realized there must be something more, and so there was. In walks number 7, which stands for analysis, wisdom, mental perfection, and faith. The family studied and wanted to learn more about themselves, the "whys" of their existence and their beliefs. They searched within themselves for the answers.

The family was again delighted after the lesson was complete, but in their reality, the facts came to the foreground. In order to live on this earth and survive, we must make a living, which requires choosing what is valued most, making decisions about the roles to play, and going out to establish a career to make the money desired. This leads to the number 8, which represents a blending together of spiritual and material beliefs and having ethics behind the decisions and careers chosen. It represents material aspects and value choices, It gives you what you deserve.

Going out into the world and accomplishing their goals of financial security as well as experiencing the joy of a task well done, the family recognized and was fascinated by the broad outlook they were beginning to manifest. Not only did they have a neighborhood to live in, but they were able to travel to different parts of the land, finding people like themselves with similar goals, desires, and experiences.

Recognizing this, the number 9 makes itself known. This number symbolizes a broad outlook. It is far reaching and can embrace people and places in all walks of live. It is the symbol of impersonal love and unity on a wide scale.

The family had come a long way. The road was challenging but well worth the effort, and the final destination had been reached. What was it they were learning to experience? LIFE ITSELF.
