Freddie Jackson

The Greatest Hits of Freddie Jackson

New York, NY (BlackNews.com) - The reunion of R&B balladeer, Freddie Jackson, his fans and Orpheus Music, the label that guided him to eleven number-one hits, begins its celebration with the July 11, 2006 release of "Until The End Of Time," the first single from his forthcoming full-length album, Transitions.

"I am so excited about this single. I believe it will be the wedding song of the year and go into the book of great love songs right next to 'You Are My Lady'. For me, 'Until The End of Time' is the continuum to 'You Are My Lady'. A couple who started their romance with that song can put on 'Until The End of Time' and celebrate two decades of unconditional love," Jackson says.

Written by Marc Nelson (formerly with the group Az Yet) and Wirlie Morris and produced by Yasha and Nelson, "Until The End Of Time" is a collaboration of seasoned talent and proven hit making.

At radio, the excitement over the single keeps building, with such early believers as WBLS (NY), WKUS (VA), WKXI (MI), WVAZ (IL), WTUG (AL), WNOV (WI) and WAKB (GA). Elroy Smith, Program Director at V103 in Chicago, says, "I have always been a fan of Freddie Jackson. When I put his new song in my CD player, I immediately said, this is the Freddie Jackson that I know. This song brings it home for him. I am so passionate about this song that I made room on my play list to add it instantly."

Transitions, scheduled for a September 2006 release, is about renewal, relationships and longevity. And Jackson speaks this philosophy through his music poignantly. The album is a story connecting his past and present musical career. "I am looking forward to performing the album and staging each song," Jackson shares enthusiastically.

He adds, "This album speaks to the musical chemistry that Beau Huggins and I share. Beau discovered me at a showcase, guided me through a career of chart-topping hits, and then waited for my return to Orpheus so that we could do it all again. As executive producer, Beau has done a wonderful job with Transitions. I believe he did more than produce this album, he directed it, "Jackson states. Beau (also President of Orpheus) expresses equally strong feelings about the project. "Freddie Jackson is a true testament that people get better with time. This is his best work ever, and represents what all cultures expect from black soul music."

Transitions also reunites Jackson with long-time producer/composer Paul Laurence, who wrote "Rock Me Tonight", one of the singers biggest hits. As well, the album includes a heart-felt medley of "Superstar" and "Wind Beneath My Wings", Jackson's special tribute to the late Luther Vandross, from whom he says he learned a great deal about the execution and presentation of a ballad.

In support of the album, Jackson's schedule begins with radio appearances in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit, Virginia, Florida, Los Angeles, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina and Mississippi.

About Freddie Jackson

Freddie Jackson is a Grammy®-nominated, American Music Award winning R&B vocalist who dominated the urban music scene with 30 charted singles-11 them reaching number one-and the distinction of being ranked among the top 20 best-selling black music artists of the late '80's and '90's. His era defining mega-hits, "Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times' Sake), "Tasty Love", "Nice N Slow", "Love Me Down", and "That's All I'll Ever Ask", recorded with then label mate Najee, are still played daily on commercial and satellite radio.

Harlem, Jackson's hometown, played a key role in his musical career. As a youngster, he made weekly excursions to the famed Apollo theatre where he was influenced by soulful, seasoned vocalists such as Otis Redding, Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye, and his contemporaries, the Jackson 5. At the White Rock Baptist Church, the gospel-trained vocalist met Paul Laurence who later become his producer and songwriting partner and led him to platinum status with "Rock Me Tonight".

He was discovered by Beau Huggins of Hush Productions at a showcase, and eventually sang back-up for Melba Moore. A deal with Capital Records followed and "Rock Me Tonight", Jackson's debut album was released. The single of the same title, enjoyed a six-week stay at number one and made Freddie Jackson a household name via urban contemporary radio. It also reached number 13 on the pop charts, which helped provide Jackson the wide audience he continues to enjoy today.

Album after album and hit single after hit single, Jackson proved his ability to deliver great songs. Years of headlining, touring with other bold-face names, chart dominance and platinum status, all kept Freddie Jackson and his vocal style prominent, and extended his reach well beyond an era. With the 2006 release of Transitions, his new album, and the lead single "Until The End of Time", Freddie Jackson puts romance back on the table and hits back on the charts.
