The Accents On Black!

News Release

The Accents On Black offers the African-American community an opportunity for economic empowerment. It is a plan that shows ordinary people how to become successful entrepreneurs without spending big money or taking a big risk.

Tacoma, WA

The Accents On Black was founded in October 1993, by Debra Daniels and Carl Reed, in Gig Harbor WA. It started as a direct sales company marketing African and African-American art. In January 1994, the company expanded its marketing strategy to a network or multi-level marketing structure.

The company began with five distributors in the Puget Sound area. It has now grown to over 120 (ed. est.) distributors, with its network reaching into several states.

The Accents On Black believes that African-American art tells a very important story, a story of history and tradition; of community and values; a story of fathers raising their sons and mothers playing with their daughters. But a story which, most importantly, tell the viewer that he or she matters.

The second component of the mission of The Accents on Black is to provide an economic opportunity to the Black community. Multi-level marketing is the vehicle by which this component is addressed. It is the nature of multi-level marketing to create unity among people, because it is a structure that is based upon each helping the other, and in turn helping themselves to succeed. This structure has the power to create wealth, not among a few, but among many, and thereby economically empowers the African-American community.

The company founders believe that by taking a marketing strategy with a proven track record and marrying it to a product that celebrates African-American culture, they can attract a large segment of the African-American community as both customers and distributors.

The marketing plan of The Accents On Black is unique. It is no get rich quick scheme but a sound business opportunity that can reward its distributors with substantial cash rebates and bonuses.

The Accents On Black opened its first Gallery/Showroom in Tacoma, Washington. The Gallery features pieces from their catalog, as well as a showplace for originals by Alfred Kelley. They also display custom designed upholstery by furniture designer, Lee Keys.
